This was my first experience listening to Maggot Breeder, and it was an excellent one. Myiasis contains nine tracks of back to basics, dark, industrial music. It has been a while since I have heard an industrial album that so expertly captured that brooding, uneasy feeling that the original (death) industrial bands displayed. Fans of artists such as Reutoff or similar work should definitely give this a listen to.

Myiasis places you in a dark and sinister alien world, leaving you to walk down abandoned, desolate city streets, lined with decrepit buildings. Cloaked figures peer out of alleyways, hiding in the darkness watching you as you walk by. You know you are in a place you are not supposed to be, and yet, you are trapped and unable to leave.

Maggot Breeder has produced a very solid album of industrial music. Myiasis uses its sounds sparingly and appropriately. Most tracks consist of only select, yet well used samples. Myiasis never overwhelms the listener in an attempt to achieve its dark feel; rather, the album subtly captures the listener, bringing them into its world. Myiasis might not make you immediately take notice, but eventually its atmosphere will draw you in. I would recommend any fan on industrial music to give this Myiasis a shot; it is definitely worth your time.
